Hi there my name is Matt, I'm from Birmingham, Alabama and a Senior at UAB majoring in Art Studio. Throughout my drawings my goal is to entertain, excite, and intimidate by investigating the beauty of imaginative realism through the roles of dystopian environments, fantasy environments, the human figure and grotesque creatures. I want to establish a connection with my viewers by using themes and characters that I myself enjoy when watching/reading great Science fiction and Fantasy. Creating these archetypes gives me the opportunity to disappear from reality, to explore my sub conscious, and act as if the characters and creatures are living beings that could exist inside a real universe. When drawing these characters I focus on their individual personality, while also evoking broader symbolic or narrative themes.
